Jeff Newgard has been shaping tax, healthcare and business policy as a lobbyist for nearly a decade. He brings to our clients a unique ability to identify policy opportunities, develop and implement lobbying strategies, and leveraging relationships with policymakers and staff to achieve the desired outcomes for our clients.
Through his experiences, Jeff draws on his years in the legislature to combine his technical understanding of complicated policy matters with his knowledge of the legislative process. He has a special talent for translating dense issues into plain language for legislators and others to articulate the real-world impact of policy decisions.
In addition to representing the individual clients of Peak Policy, Jeff is also the executive director of a consortium of multistate and multinational businesses advocating for sound tax policy. In this role, he serves as a conduit for businesses to engage in the areas of apportionment of multistate business income, national and international tax conformity, and tax controversy. Jeff was intimately involved in the development of Oregon’s Corporate Activities Tax and continues to spearhead efforts for business to communicate and address policy concerns relating to the new tax.
Jeff and his wife, Natalie, live in Tigard, Ore., with their two Australian Shepherds. In his spare time, you are likely to find him mountain climbing, backpacking or spending time at his family cabin in the Mt. Hood National Forest.
