The revenue committees normally conclude their work around the same time the Ways & Means Committee finalizes its end-of-session budgets. That is not the case this year, with the tax-writing process running in overdrive with less than 72 hours remaining in the session.

The final week of a session always brings some chaos to the revenue committees, but this week was different. Usually, the committees have cleared the deck by the final week of the session and, if any, the only meetings are for conforming amendments or a rare bill crossing over at the very end. The backlog of bills in the Senate calendar this session resulted in marathon hearings on a wide range of measures. And we may still see more hearings posted.
